Welcome to the April 2026 issue of Discover Greenlee โ€“ but as everyone knows Greenlee County is not an island. We are surrounded by neighbors with whom we have much in common.

Our long joint history with Indigenous people, our mountains โ€“ our rivers, but also families who work the land, raise cattle or other crops and famously all the food choices developed over a dozen millennia by humans who have inhabited Southeastern Arizona and South western New Mexico for at least 12,000 years.

The rich history shared by this remarkable region provides evidence that spans Paleo-Indian hunter-gatherers all the way to complex Puebloan societies. Then more recently incursions by famed Spanish explorer Francisco Vรกzquez de Coronado as well as beaver trappers, hunters and miners.

Our magnificent region has more than a rich common history, which is why we encourage taking the many virtual tours available online, but mostly we invite you to come visit in person. There is an abundance of history and facts on our website
www.visitgreenleecounty.com

Come for visit โ€“ spend a lifetime enjoying the shared wonders of Catron, Grant, Luna and Hidalgo counties of New Mexico all showcased in our newsletter and Five Year Planning Calendar along with our Arizona neighbor of Apache, Graham and Cochise Counties.

Please consider this your invitation~! We look forward to seeing you!

With our warmest regards,

Akos Kovach, Chair, Greenlee Tourism Association.
