The June First Friday Volunteer Social will be a splash on Friday, June 6 from 9am to 11 am! That’s right, we are washing more pots to help the Gila Native Plants Nursery meet a new contract of 5,000 “babies” – that is, seedlings in seed pots. Our partner, the Institute for Applied Ecology, will be taking these seedlings in about 6 months to do restoration work in other parts of the state.
Helping with pot washing is huge for us! You not only help us save money on supplies, but help us keep plastics out of our landfills, and provide us with much-needed matching funds for upcoming grants and contracts.
And don’t forget – every time you volunteer, your hours go in our system. At our Spring and Fall plant sale fundraisers, we thank you by giving you $0.50 per hour toward native plants. That means you can also participate in restoration, right in your own back (or front) yard.
We hope to see you Friday!
