What Brings You to Greenlee? | Gila Watershed Partnership

I run a nonprofit in Safford, AZ, which does riparian habitat restoration along the Gila River, but purports to serve the entire Gila Watershed of southeastern Arizona. One of the ways we do that is by running river cleanups and water quality testing along tributaries such as the San Francisco River which runs through Clifton.

The first time I made that drive into the Gila Mountains and the town of Clifton, I was stunned. It’s a gorgeous drive ending at a beautiful little river that I’m proud to help keep clean. I come back to Clifton to participate in other activities, events, and organizations because the town and river and the mountains draw me back. It goes beyond the picturesque views. The people are, like those in many mountain towns, an interesting and friendly conglomeration of folks from all over who love their little piece of the world and want to welcome you in to it.

I hope this helps!
